FAQ 1 - Can I make a request by phone?
No. Requests have to be in writing. It will help if you fill out a Standard Form 180 document. Copies can be obtained from local veterans affairs offices or downloaded from: http://www.nara.gov/
FAQ 2 - How can a veteran prove he or she qualifies?
By including a service or social security number and a copy of discharge papers, on which medals and decorations are clearly indicated.
FAQ 3 - What if the veteran is deceased?
The primary next of kin, such as spouse can make the request. All requests must be signed.
FAQ 4 - How can a veteran obtain Korean War service medals?
Through the Air Force, which is handling requests for all branches. Requests should be sent, with a copy of the discharge paper establishing war time service in Korea, to:
