|  | Biography: Volunteered for Combat Tracker training from 92nd replacement Bat., Bien Hoa, VN.Jun.67 to the British Jungle Warfare School (BJWS)Malaysia. After 8 weeks of the special jungle tracking school, joined the 1st Cavalry Division tracker team (team 8, later the 62nd IPCT)as their first tracker replacement. Started tracking in the Bong Son area and though out the central highlands. Recieved the Purple Heart along with Frank Merrit on a mission in the An Lo mountain range. Later, moved the tracker team north to Camp Evans north of Danang along with the 1st Cavalry Division. Drove a 2 1/2 on a convoy through the city of HUE, two days before the 1968 TET offense. From Camp Evans, involved in several missions in I Corp, including the A Shau valley. Also was involved in Operation Pegasus that relieved the Marines in Khe Sahn. I took over the duties as a dog handler by taking over the tracker dog Lucky,due to rotation of his handler.After 12 months of duty Deros'd out in June of 1968. Was stationed at Ft, Benning, GA as an OCS Student Brigade cadre NCO, assisting Army JAG officers, instructing the USMJ system. In Sep, 1968 was Honorable Discharged as an E-6, Staff Sergeant. Post Vietnam, helped establish the VDHA as member #14, and currently serving as the Unit Director for the Combat Trackers and as a VDHA Vice President. |
